The Ebola Virus Disease is the enemy knocking at the door of many West African countries and its effects are fast spreading.
Unlike
other viruses, such as the Hepatitis A, B,C, which can stay in the body
fluids of an infected person for 15 years without any symptoms, the
Ebola virus, which symptoms include bleeding from the mouth and anus,
can kill its victims within days .
A professor of Epidemiology
and Community Health Sci-ence, University of Ilorin, Kwara State,
Tanimola Akande, describes the Ebola virus, which is ravaging Guinea,
Sierra Leone and Liberia and has killed a nurse in Nigeria, as the
biggest health challenge facing the sub region at present.
Akande says that its mode of transmission is a major reason why it is deadlier than most viruses.
He
says, "That Ebola has no cure is not the reason why it is deadly.HIV
also has no cure, yet it does not kill all its victims, if it is
properly managed. Ebola is deadlier because it is easy to contract; it
is in all the body fluids of an infected individual as its infection can
be through saliva, blood, sweat, sperm, excreta, body tissue. It can
also be contracted by touching the surface an infected person has
touched."
"Also, the natural host for Ebola is fruit bats,
chimpanzees and other forest animals that many eat daily in different
parts of the country. You can get it just by coming in contact with the
blood of an infected animal. Any virus that can be contracted through
food has the potential to wipe off many lives."
The physician,
who says that Ebola virus has very tricky symptoms, which often mimic
that of common illness, such as malaria, dengue, lassa and typhoid
fever, notes that many health workers may have already come in contact
with an infected patient without knowing it.
He adds, "When a
patient comes to your hospital and presents you with symptoms, such as
fever, headache, general body pain, you are likely not to wear gloves or
biohazards suits before treating the patient. That is the tricky part.
You are infected before you know it is Ebola."
To contain the
transmission of the disease, Akande urges Nigerians to stop eating bush
meat, as well as to wash their hands and fruits regularly before eating.
He also advises health workers to wear protective kits always while attending to their patients.
Akande
states, "We have been talking about HIV/AIDS, but Ebola is deadlier
than HIV/AIDS. People who have HIV live for years if they take their
drugs but any contact with an infected Ebola person is almost a death
sentence because the virus has no vaccines, and no drugs. The best one
can get is only palliative management".
Ebola is the nightmare
virus. It is feared as the second coming of the plagues of the 1400s.
Why is this one virus so much more deadly than other viruses? Simply
put, experts list five reasons why everyone must watch out for this
virus.
Low survival rates
The chance of survival is almost
zero, especially in Africa. It kills 90 per cent of those infected with
the virus. Death is certain if the patient starts bleeding. Bleeding,
of course, is its "trademark".
From a medical point, any one that
contracts this disease should be isolated -to wait for death! It is
sad! It kills faster than AIDS, and in an equally dramatic way. Because
of its mode of transmission, you cannot bury dead patients in the usual
way -- patients, dead or alive, are absolutely avoided! Dead bodies are
equally infectious.
It is almost incurable.
The problem is
that there is no drug yet for treatment or vaccine for prevention. Four
different viruses cause this disease. At least, we have some drugs for
HIV/AIDS patients, to help them live longer and better. The treatment
offered for Ebola Virus Disease is for the person to die better and more
peacefully. The vaccines we have can only prevent monkeys and mice from
the disease! Antivirals do not work.
It is highly contagious
HIV/AIDS
requires blood transmission or intimate contact for transmission; this
disease requires contact with body. Transmission is by coming in contact
with body fluids from diarrhea, vomitting, and bleeding. Doctors and
medical staff attending to the patients wear protective kits from head
to toe, making them look like astronauts heading for the moon! HIV is
highest among commercial sex workers and gays; the people with the
highest risk of Ebola Viral Disease are medical workers, their families,
and their friends. Hunters that encounter monkeys and bats, and
marketers of bush-meats should be careful.
No definite way to protect yourself
There
is ABC of HIV/AIDS prevention. There are ways of preventing malaria.
But preventing Ebola Virus Disease is not specific or clear-cut. You are
advised to wash your hands frequently with soap and water, avoid
contact with infected people (and their secretions and blood), and avoid
contact with objects contaminated by infected people. Prevention is by
hygiene!....

How To Protect Yourself From Ebola
It is no more news that Ebola virus is now the fastest killer in town, and the only way to go about it is to protect yourself from the deadly virus. As the says goes, "prevention is better than cure".
Bellow as some of the lifestyle one can adopt in order to reduce the risk of being infected.
1. Wash your hand with soap and water or an alcohol based hand sanitizer.
2. Wear gloves, a mask and a long protective gown if coming within e meter of an infected patient.
3. Avoid direct contact with bodily fluids of someone suffering from Ebola or already deceased from it.
4. Avoid eating bat, monkeys or other bush meat(at least for now)

Reasons why you should not marry because of love.
I think this will sound a bit of funny to somebody. The next question you will probably want to ask is that, how will I marry somebody when I didn't love her? Its a sort of controversial, but the following are some of the reason why you don't have to get marry to somebody on the ground of romantic love you have for each other.
1. Love becloud sense of reasoning
The matter of marriage is not what we are to handle with a child's glove. It should be a decision well thought before entering into it. But in a situation where the party involve had already fall into romantic love far before the decision is taken, most issue that would have been critically well thought will just be overlook.
2. Love doesn't guarantee happiness in marriage
The fact that you fall into romance before getting married does not guaranteed that you are going to have a successful marriage life, except the necessary things to consider are first put into consideration. We often hear of relationship that started on a very good romantic note before marriage, but find it difficult to survive for just three month in the marriage. This happened because premarital romance is not a criterion for a successful marriage.
3. Love create vulnerability.
This is because, when you love before marriage, you are likely going to close your eye so many thing which may latter lead to emotional pain. You wont see the reason to test the character of the person, and most of the issue that you are suppose to have discuss and reach a reasonable conclusion are likely going to be overlook. some of which may later brake the marriage.
How to prevent The Spread of Ebola
Ebola virus is spreading so fast across Africa and there seems not to be an immediate cure, at least not for now. The only most effective way of handling the virus for now is through the prevention of the spread.
Prevention efforts of Ebola Virus focus on avoiding contact with the
viruses.
The following precautions can help prevent infection and spread of Ebola Virus.
• Avoid traveling to areas of known outbreaks.
• Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, or use
alcohol-based hand rubs containing at least 60 percent alcohol when soap and
water aren't available.
• Avoid bush meat. In developing countries, wild animals, including nonhuman primates, are sold in local markets. Avoid buying or eating any of these animals.
• Avoid contact with infected people: Avoid contact with the person's body fluids and tissues, including blood, semen, vaginal secretions and saliva.
• Don't handle remains. The bodies of people who have died of Ebola disease are still contagious. Specially organized and trained teams should bury the remains, using appropriate safety equipment.
• Avoid handling live or dead wild animals. Some species of animals besides primates may carry the Ebola virus.
• Also, always be sure to wear special protective clothing (gown, gloves, full face mask and eye goggles) if you are around a person with Ebola fever

How to Love
The word "I LOVE YOU" seems to be a common word used among people this days, but just after few moment you hear that the same people who promised love to each other has just been separated. This bring me to the point that, many seems not to understand the real concept of love.
Just as I was thinking about the way forward to peace and enduring love, then I arrived at this simple solution.
If you want a lasting love, focus on the good side of your partner. You need to understand that love is all about perception. Not only that, we are all human and as such we all have the negative aspect of our life. But when you focus on the good side of your partner, the rate at which you see the negative will reduced. And the outcome will be that you will have an all round good perception which will lead to continuous and genuine love for such person.

How To Know if you are in a happy relationship.
Hoping that somebody will learn something new here, I have decided to do a little write-up on this. Many people are not in the right relationship and they just keep trying, thinking that one day things will normalise.
Many people tend to put attention on materials. Allas! that is just a simple fallacy. Happy relationship is not material driven, though it may make it sweeter. You don't need to have all the money in a commercial bank for you to be happy in your relationship.
If you are in the right relationship, the sign is not far fetch. there are little click here and there that will point you to the fact that you are on the right track.
You should be able to feel good about your partner.
Did you feel real good with the person you are going with? Are you ready to take them for whom they really are? Are you very confident of introducing him/her as your partner? If all this can not be answer, it only mean that you are not yet sure of the way forward. Probably, you are still hoping to find someone better in the nearest future.
There will be a mutual respect.
Mutual respect is one major thing that cant be taken out of a happy relationship. The whole essence of true love is on the mutual respect. Both party should be able to respect each other in conduct and on every aspect for that matter. If respect is out of a relationship, then all is over!
There will be Mutual understanding
A show of mutual understanding in a relationship can't be overlook.Your partner suppose to be the first person to detect if you are going trough a difficult situation. It only make you happy if your partner easily understand you to the level of detecting what you are passing trough and your expectation from him. It is a simply signal that the person really care. This will reflect in your relationship both within and outside.
Feel like seeing him/her constantly.
If you noticed that the urge to see your partner is no more, that's just a signal that your relationship is just about to crash. There should naturally be an urge for both of you to see each other. It is the evidence that both of you are happy being together.
